This shot was taken at night on a lake near Pellinge (an islet near Porvoo, Finland). We visited Pellinge with *ageofloss for some sunsets and stayed for some night shots afterwards.
180 sec exposure with Peleng 8mm fish-eye, I centered the horizon so the distortion would be minimal. I also used slave flash to light up the stones on the foreground little bit.
I wanted to have the sky full with stars with a dream-like atmosphere so i used ISO400 & f/5,6 and I didn't want the exposure time to get too long for the stars to move around too much. I did some longer exporures too but more movement meant less visible stars.
Very painterly... I am so jealous that you have access to such scenery.
Great sense of color and framing. The slightly off center moon helps to balance the composition. My only suggestion, given that you had to put the horizon centered to avoid distortion, would be to consider cropping a bit at the top and bottom to really accent the wideness of the shot: maybe a bit over the moon on top and just above the bottom most rock; producing a landscape shot that stresses the vastness of the image (a thing lost by using ultra wide lenses)

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Now 170 people strong and growing... A "dangerous cult"? a "new religion"? "artistic version of fight club" or "communist movement"? You decide!
