Threw my camera into the drink

Journal Entry: Sun Jun 14, 2009, 11:46 AM
About a week ago I was photographing with *ageofloss at night on countryside near Nurmijärvi. Just when we were about to leave I threw my backpack on and whaddaya know, forgot to unzip it and my camera along with the Sigma 10-20mm fell down on a ditch and rolled couple meters into the bottom where luckily there was enough water for my camera to take a nice dive.

You could say I was somewhat pissed of, but knowing I had insurance kept me from losing it. Canon service said there's no point fixing it as the damage was too widely spread. It could get power on after drying but it didn't turn off until the battery was detached. Also it didn't take any pictures or do much else anyway. Sigma service think they can still fix the lens so I'll have to wait for it a while longer.

I was supposed to finish this journal with "R.I.P. 20D" but funny thing is, I managed to fix it by myself. Opened it for the laughs cause it didn't matter anymore and did some cleaning too, and after re-assembly it started working just fine. Going to keep it as backup camera.
:D

My 20D during the operation

Anyways, I ordered Canon 40D and should be receiving it in few days. I wanted to go with 5D (not mk2) but I decided to save some money and settle with 40D for now. 50D was tempting too but after reading about it having more noise on high ISOs than 40D was a turn-off.

If it wasn't too long ago, the pic should still be in the gallery. Can you tell me it's name or specify what's in the pic?

Holy....

I forgot how awesome your pictures were. I was cleaning up my watches after recently returning to deviantART after a 2 year hiatus, but I'm defiantly going to keep you on :+devwatch:.

Love your work.
